In 1978 the Company's founder, Jan Watkinson, emigrated from New Zealand to South Africa's Western Cape. In 1980 Jan founded Westwood Holidays a leading travel company. In 1988 Westwood Holidays was the first company in South Africa to obtain visas for South Africans to travel to China.

Far East Tours was born with Jan and her colleagues leading small group tours to China and other Asian destinations. Within a couple of years the company was offering tailor-made holidays to China and the Far East, Russia and the Indian subcontinent. Over the years the Company has grown steadily through word of mouth as many of our travellers have returned to us for another trip, and recommended us to friends.

Today, as we expand beyond Asia and into South America and other world-wide destinations, we have renamed our company and now trade under the name of ICAN Holidays. However, the fundamental pillars upon which we began remain as important today as ever with expert first hand knowledge, attention to detail, personal service and value for money being paramount.
