Pandaw Cruises commenced operations in July 2009 eight-day voyages along the Rajang River in Sarawak using a new 60-passenger riverboat. The Orient Pandaw was in Vietnam as a replica of colonial-era riverboats that cruised the waterways of Burma until the Japanese invasion in World War II. |

The International Maritime Organization has announced a ban on the carrying of heavy fuel for ships sailing in Antarctica. The ban takes effect Aug. 1, 2011. Princess, Holland America and Celebrity are three operators who have sailed in Antarctic waters, allowing consumers to see penguins and icebergs, but they do not deploy smaller boats ashore as often as smaller cruise ships, which are built for the region, do. |
